Making a Social Media Post?

Questions to ask when posting as an Ally
1. What is moving me to make this public post? Empathy? Anger? Guilt? Shame?

2. Who are these feelings directed towards? Who is my intended audience? Am I committing to having offline conversations with my community beyond this?

3. Am I including myself when I ask folks to do better? Do I recognize myself as a lifelong learner, or am I coming from an angle that presumes my status as an ally?

4. What feelings do I feel in my body after posting? Self righteousness? Moral superiority? Less guilt? Less shame? How has that impacted my urge to post?
Don't get me wrong - there is absolute value in saturating the public discourse with conversations on racial justice.

We should be flooding people's timelines. But self awareness is an important part of this process. Are we doing the internal work of asking ourselves these questions? Are we cultivating humility in our advocacy? Are we ensuring our words translate into action on a day-to-day basis?"
